Eero, the Finnish company that makes Wi-Fi routers, has announced that it is introducing a new mesh router called the Eero 6.0. This new router is designed to improve performance and security for users who want to connect to the internet from multiple locations. The Eero 6.0 is also designed to be more energy efficient, thanks to its use of mesh networking technology. This means that it can use less power when connecting to the internet, which will save you money in the long run. The Eero 6.0 is available now for purchase at a price of €199.99 euros.

Wyze has announced two new Wi-Fi mesh systems, the first routers sold by Wyze. Both are mesh systems, so they can expand network coverage by placing additional stations around your home. Wyze will sell them in packs of one or two units, and the company says you can have up to ten nodes on a single network — mixing and matching the two systems won’t work, though.

First is the Wyze Mesh Router, which will cost $93.99 for one unit, or $173.99 for two units, not including shipping costs on Wyze’s online store. It’s a simple dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router, with support for both 2.4 and 5 GHz channels. Wyze is claiming 1500 square feet of coverage on each station, and you can optionally use a wired Ethernet backhaul for improved performance. Each station also has at least one Ethernet port for connecting a wired device, which is not available on regular Eero stations or Google Wifi/Nest Wifi.

There’s also the Wyze Mesh Router Pro, which supports the newer Wi-Fi 6E standard, including the 6 GHz band. There aren’t many devices yet that can even take advantage of Wi-Fi 6E — Apple has exactly one product that supports it, for example — so for the moment that’s mostly just for futureproofing. It also has slightly more range than the normal Wyze Mesh Router, at 2,000 sq. ft. instead of 1,500. The Pro model costs $173.99 for a 1-pack or $273.99 for a 2-pack.

The routers look impressive on paper, and there aren’t many options for Wi-Fi 6E routers, so any competition is welcome. However, Wyze has never sold a router before now. Waiting for independent reviews is probably the best move before making a purchase decision, especially since there’s not much information about the software experience (besides that everything is handled in the Wyze app).
