If your iPhone X won’t turn on, there are a few things you can do to try and restart it.
- If your iPhone X is plugged in to a power source, hold down the power button until the device powers off. Then, hold down the power button again until you see the Apple logo and the device starts up.
- If your iPhone X is not plugged in to a power source, press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for at least 10 seconds until you see an Apple logo and the device starts up.
- If neither of these methods work, you can try resetting your iPhone X by holding down both buttons for about 10 seconds until you see an Apple logo and a warning message telling you to use a registered Apple product if you want to continue using your phone. ..
Restarting an iPhone 13 is a great way to troubleshoot problems or simply get a fresh start. We’ll show you several different ways to do it—with instructions that also apply to the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
How Restart an iPhone 13 with Hardware Buttons
To restart an iPhone using buttons on the device itself, you’ll need to first shut it down. To do so, press and hold the Side button (on the right edge of your iPhone) and the Volume Up button ( on the left side).
Keep holding the two buttons, and after a moment, you’ll see a “Slide to Power Off” slider appear on the screen. To turn off your iPhone 13, swipe the circle in the slider to the right.
Next, you’ll need to turn your iPhone 13 on again. Press and hold the Side button (on the right edge of the iPhone) until you see an Apple logo in the center of the screen. After a moment, your iPhone will be ready to go.

How Restart an iPhone 13 Using AssistiveTouch
You can also trigger an iPhone restart using an accessibility feature called AssistiveTouch. To do so, first enable AssistiveTouch by launching Settings and navigating to Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch. Then flip the switch beside “AssistiveTouch” to the “on” position.
A special AssistiveTouch button (that looks like a gray square with a white circle in the middle) will appear on the edge of your screen. Any time you want to restart your iPhone, tap the AssistiveTouch button and then navigate to Device > More and tap “Restart.”
When you see a pop-up message asking for confirmation, tap “Restart,” and your iPhone 13 will restart.

How to Force Restart an iPhone 13
If your iPhone 13 becomes unresponsive and won’t shut down or restart using any of the methods shown above, you can try a forced restart. A forced restart is a way to force the iPhone to power off and restart without the usual shutdown process. It should only be reserved for emergencies.
To perform a forced restart, you’ll need to press two buttons in quick succession, and then hold a third one. First, press the Volume Up button and release it, then press the Volume Down button and release it, then press and hold the Side button. Keep holding the Side button until you see an Apple logo on the screen.
When the Apple logo appears, the iPhone has been restarted.
It may take a while for the lock screen to come up as the iPhone performs its startup checks, but when it does, you can unlock and use your iPhone as usual. If it doesn’t work as usual, you may need to put your iPhone into recovery mode or contact Apple Customer Support. Good luck!
